BC Racing's competition coilover lines
The RM, ZR, and HM Series are BC Racing's top-tier competition coilovers. They aren't for most buyers, and BC Racing doesn't pretend otherwise. These are the kits race teams run. Time-attack competitors at the pointy end use them. Pro-am drift drivers building dedicated chassis run them. If your use case isn't dedicated motorsport competition, the BR Series or ER Series is the right answer.
RM Series
The RM is motorsport-grade dual-adjustable. Compression and rebound damping on separate adjustment axes. Race-grade construction throughout. Larger reservoirs, race-spec seals, internals built for sustained competition use. The RM is what you buy when the ER's track-day capability isn't enough. You need durability and adjustment resolution that holds up to club racing or serious time-attack.
ZR Series
The ZR is pro-grade triple-adjustable. Three separate damping axes: high-speed compression, low-speed compression, and rebound. Each independently tunable. That's race-team territory. High-speed compression controls how the damper responds to sharp impacts (curbs, kerbs, bumps mid-corner). Low-speed compression handles weight transfer through corner entry, mid-corner, and braking zones. Tuning the two independently lets you keep the chassis settled through transitions without sacrificing compliance over surface irregularities.
If you're not actively tuning a competition car between sessions, you don't need a 3-Way. If you are, you can't tune a 2-Way the way you can tune a 3-Way.
HM Series
The HM Series is BC Racing's specific competition application coilover. Built for particular use cases where the RM or ZR architecture isn't the right answer. Smaller volume across the lineup. More specialty in fitment availability.
Who buys these
Time-attack drivers competing at the pointy end. Professional and semi-professional drift competitors. Race teams running club or pro-am series. Dedicated competition chassis where lap time is the priority and budget is in proportion. The RM, ZR, and HM aren't daily-driver kits. BC Racing built them for competition first, with everything else as a secondary consideration.
Common fitments tend to track the chassis that show up at competition events: Nissan GT-R, BMW M3 and M4 across E46, E90, and F80 generations, Honda S2000 and Civic Type R at the serious-track-build level, and the dedicated drift chassis community across Nissan and Toyota platforms.
